For the European Union-funded project HABITABLE (habitableproject.org), the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) is inviting applications for the Post-Doc position for modeling human migration in the context of climate change. The position is funded until August 2024.

The successful candidate will become a part of PIK’s FutureLab “Security, Ethnic Conflicts and Migration” and the working group “Impacts of climate change on human population dynamics”. The candidate will develop and evaluate numerical and/or statistical approaches to investigate potential relationships between climate change and human migration. In particular, the research will go beyond simple relationships with temperature or precipitation, to explore the influence of biophysical impact indicators (drawing on the ISIMIP project, www.isimip.org), as well as indirect effects of climate change affecting other driving or inhibiting factors of migration. The ideal candidate should have an intrinsic interest to work in interdisciplinary teams and apply their knowledge and skills to transdisciplinary problems.
