Water and human security in the Middle East.

This paper uses a combination of historical evidence, projections of water demand, case study, and literature review to address relationship between freshwater availability and human security in the Middle East. The Middle East is one region of the world where water is considered a strategic resource, and a significant amount of work has been done examining the importance of water in this region. This paper provides a different way of looking at the problem. It focuses on issues of poverty, equity, culture and society - particularly among Israelis and Palestinians - in an effort to better understand the problem and to guide the way toward efficient and equitable solutions.
