Using the Wasa-Lagone in North Cameroon as an example, the author argues that most Integrated Conservation and Development Projects (ICDPs) lack demographic monitoring. He recommends that ICDPs engage in regional land-use planning and discourage development activities that stimulate immigration.
This section of the web site offers users the capability to view samples from the Central African GIS datasets contained in the final CARPE CD-ROM version dowload all available datasets of the CD-ROM and view/ dowload additional GIS layers not contained in the CD-ROM that were produced by UMD/NASA. The coverages are in ESRI shapefile and ARC/INFO export files format. Each page contains downloadable arc/info/view data layers in a zip format that is readable by both PC and UNIX machines.
